“Seizing this moment also requires co-operation, because when Europe and America stand together, no problem can stand against us. As past debates fade, as great duties become clear, let us begin a new era of transatlantic unity.”
How about you start practising what you preach? Work with us on the environment, on peace and making it a better world. Peace through dialogue not through bombs!
And how can you talk about a new era of unity when you have completely blocked the rest of world’s efforts to solve environmental problems, the first step being Kyoto.
“By researching, by developing, by promoting new technologies across the world, all nations, including the developing countries, can advance economically while slowing the growth in global greenhouse [gases] and avoid pollutants that undermine public health.”
Research is all well and good but what we need is action not more studies and reports. We are destroying the earth – just look at the recent increase in floods, heatwaves, tornadoes and of course the tsunami. We need to change things now, not “after more research”.
Research has already proven we are having an effect, in more ways than we imagined.
Come on Bush, act now to solve the real biggest problem in the world, not oil or terrorism or even democracy, but the planet we all live on.
And Blair, it’s all very well praising Bush’s words on the Middle East, but how about standing up to him for a change and demanding some action on the environment!! About time we talked some sense into him.
All of us can use the power of human ingenuity to improve the environment for generations to come.
