Psychology of Cyberspace – Overview and Guided Tour

http://www.rider.edu/~suler/psycyber/overview.html

This looks really interesting, I definitely intend to come back and read this in detail. An analysis of the psychology of the internet.
Someone should look into the psychology of text messages as well. They are so annoying and intrusive, and yet I find myself compelled to reply to them. Some younger people seem to prefer texting to calling someone – I can’t understand that. Their only real use is when you want to pass a single piece of info to someone or ask a simple question. Using them for anything else e.g. “how are you today?” is just plain *wrong* in my book! I can’t wait til somebody invents “voice texts” – sending a recorded voice message to someone’s phone when you are too busy to have a conversation. Having to type into your phone is just painful!</rant>
