The paraffin is for sealing wax jars, and it’s next to the freezer-jam-making paraphernalia and what looks like Certo pectin (also for making jam) to the left of that. Not so mysterious after all. ;-)
Sorry, that should have said “a type of wax for sealing jam jars”!
well there you go.. you learn something every day!
